How to Clean Your Dubia Roach Enclosure: A Step-by-Step Guide

Dubia roaches, often chosen for their advantages over crickets, are a popular choice for reptile and amphibian enthusiasts. However, like all pets, they require a clean environment to thrive. Here's a step-by-step guide to ensure your Dubia roaches live in a clean, healthy habitat.

1. Gather Your Cleaning Supplies Before you start, ensure you have:

  • A spare container
  • A soft brush or cloth
  • Warm water
  • Mild soap (Dawn dish soap is a great choice)
  • Disposable gloves

2. Transfer Your Dubia Roaches Gently move your Dubia roaches to the spare container. Ensure it's a secure environment so they don’t escape. Read our blog about sorting Dubia Roaches here - The Ultimate Guide to Sorting Dubia Roaches.

3. Remove Debris Take out any uneaten food, droppings, and old shedding (aka frass). This prevents mold growth and keeps the environment odor free and sanitary.

4. Scrub the Enclosure With your soft brush or cloth, scrub the inside of the enclosure using warm water and a tiny amount of mild soap. Ensure you reach all the corners.

5. Rinse and Dry Thoroughly rinse the enclosure with clean water to remove any soap residues. Dry it completely before reintroducing your Dubia roaches.

6. Replace Essential Items Return any egg crates, hiding spots, and water dishes back into the enclosure.

7. Transfer Back Your Dubia Roaches Carefully move your Dubia roaches back into their clean home.

8. Regular Maintenance For optimal health, clean your Dubia roach enclosure every 2-4 weeks.

Remember, a clean enclosure not only ensures the health of your Dubia roaches but also maximizes their lifespan and breeding potential.
